Safety Information

  • i-LAN Water Solutions’ UWF-Q321 3-stage Undersink Water Filter System is intended for use in suburban/households where the municipal water authorities supply treated, unheated (cold) water.
  •  If the water source is not treated sufficiently, the effective life span of the filters of UWF-Q321 may be shortened and more regular replacements may become necessary.
  • For commercial venues, including restaurants, cafés, hotels, etc., UWF-Q321 filters may be overloaded and require more regular filter replacements.
  • Suggested filter replacement timing is based on normal household usage under normal suburban water quality and conditions. The timing may need to be varied for conditions outside of these.
  • If the filters are not replaced at the suggested timing and usage, the effectiveness of water filtration and water safety may be jeopardised.
  • For the installation of the undersink water filter system, use electrical tools carefully. The use of cordless drills is recommended. Water is conductive and there is a risk of electric shock or electrocution.
  • Use applicable protective clothing and equipment when installing the undersink water filter system.
  • While UWF-Q321 comes pre-assembled and is quite easy to install, check with your local council for regulations on whether licensed trade people only are allowed to do even minor work involving domestic water supply.
  • Failure to follow instructions in this manual may void warranty.

System overview

UWF-Q321 3-stage Undersink Water Filter System is pre-assembled with tubing and parts for it to be installed under a household kitchen sink, connecting to existing domestic water mains with an outlet faucet on the top of the sink. When installed, cold water flows from the main’s inlet through the 3 stages of filtration to be ready for consumption at the outlet faucet.
Each of the three filters removes impurities, chemicals, and microorganisms as shown in the diagram below:

Check the Inlet Water Pressure of your house before installation

Please check your household water pressure before installing this system.

The recommended maximum water pressure for EZEK Water Filter System is 72 psi (500 kPa) which is also the national standard for buildings in Australia. However, it is not uncommon to find water pressure well above this.

Water pressure above 72 psi (500 kPa) may damage the water filter system and void warranty, and/or cause flooding or leakage in your house.

For more information about how to check your household water pressure, and if necessary install a water pressure limiting valve, see our FAQ “Why you should check water pressure before installing a water filter?”

at: https://www.ilanwater.com.au/why-check-water-pressure-before-installing-a-water-filter/

For instructions on how to install a water pressure limiting valve, see our FAQ at: https://www.ilanwater.com.au/how-to-install-a-water-pressure-limiting-valve/

The following tools and parts are required for the installation:

  1. A cordless electrical drill and a 12mm (or½”) drill bit, a smaller drill bit (e.g. 1 /16″), and associated drill bits for metal, wall or wood.
  2. Thread seal tape.
  3. Plumbing tools: spanners and screw drivers.

If it is not practical to mount the gooseneck faucet through a hole on the sink, then the following parts will be required:

  1. 2 x M10 screws (or M10 hexagonal screws) for fitting the assembly on the wooden or metallic structure under the sink.
  2. Tapping screws: 3 x MS, 1 /8″x1 0mm, round cross tapping screws; 3 x associated hollow wall anchors.

Installation steps:

  1. Switch off the water supply into the house at the entry main valve.
  2. Pick a spot for the faucet in the sink area and mark it.
  3. Drill a 12mm hole on the mark. If the sink material is hard to drill, use a smaller bit to drill a pilot hole first.
  1. Investigate and mark a spot for fitting the water filter system assembly under the sink. Consider a position near the existing cold water valve (or faucet) which is convenient to connect to the water inlet of the filter system, and for the water outlet near the connector to the outlet faucet.
  2. Drill 2 pilot holes for the 2 screws with a small drill bit (-1 /16″). The 2 screws are 9cm apart.
  3. Tighten the 2 screws and fix the filter system assembly to the spot.
  4. Measure and cut if necessary, so the inlet and outlet tubing fit in with the ballcock valve (#9) and the gooseneck faucet inlet quick connect female adaptor (#1 O), respectively, with suitable slack.
  5. Unscrew the cold water tubing from the cold water valve (or faucet) and insert the hexagonal joiner(#7), plastic washer(#8)and 3/8″ballcock valve(#9), as shown in the diagram below.
  1. Check all connections and valve settings. The assembly should be firmly fixed on the wall or on the shelf under the sink. The outlet faucet should be firmly fixed to the top of the sink.
  2. Switch on the water supply into the house at the main water valve.
  3. Turn on the faucet outlet and let the water flush for 5 minutes. This is to ensure that carbon particles in the activated carbon filter GC-250BU, that may have become loose during the manufacturing process are flushed out of the drinking water system.
  4. The water filter system is ready to use.

Operation guide

How to use

Turn on the water valve at the gooseneck faucet to collect drinking water. When the water filter system needs maintenance, e.g. for filter replacement, switch the red handle on the ballcock valve to the off position to cut off the cold water.

When to change filters

Based on an average of 4 members per household and each member drinks and uses up to 4L of water per day, the timing for replacement for each filter with its filter capacity can be calculated using the tables below:

Where the number of persons or the daily usage varies from the table above, the tables below can be used as a guide for alternative timing for filter replacement.

The listed filter capacity is the amount of “average municipal water” that can run through before the filter is clogged to the extent that water quality cannot be guaranteed. If the filters are not replaced at the suggested timing and usage, the effectiveness of water purification and safety may be jeopardised.

How to change filters

To replace one or more filters, follow these steps:

1) Turn the red handle on the ballcock valve 90° anti-clockwise to stop the water from entering the filter system. Turn the lever at the base of the gooseneck faucet to “on” position to release the water pressure in the filter system.

2) Place a cloth under the base to capture any spillage.

3) Hold the filter with one hand and turn it clockwise to release it from the base.

4) Hold the new filter with one hand and turn it anti-clockwise to tighten it onto the base.

Note: Place a cloth under the base to capture any spillage.
